Where can I get a custom made instrument panel?

Depends what material you want it making from.

A local metal fabricor will be able produce it in aluminium but you then need to paint and apply decals.

Same goes for a carpenter.

You can pick up acrylic sheets cut to size and polished etc, leaving you to cut the holes or use a model aircraft maker to do the cut outs.

You need to think outside the box on this one.

Any sign maker or engraver should be able to do the job.

You could do it yourself with a piece of black perspex and 3 hole saws of the required size.

How would you do the text and other artwork on it?

If it was all black perspex I would front engrave then fill with white paint.

I normally use clear perspex that has a black coating on the back, then reverse engrave and fill with white paint.

The white paint can be replaced with glow in the dark and left out all together and back lit with leds.

I used Ashbee Engraving for a lot of work related panels and signs and always found them very helpful. We put a lot of business their way and they never let us down.
Ashbee Engraving
If you send them the artwork they can give you a quote. They can do traffolyte in most colours and thicknesses and engraving and filling and also laser etching on stainless plus any CNC routing.

Harbour Marine in Southwold did a superb job on mine. They have the CNC design software and associated router to do the machining specifically for this purpose.

They 'shrank' a Beta panel's collection of parts into the space previously occupied by a much smaller Yanmar one - cleverly and neatly done.

Highly recommended.

But I did the cutting and drilling myself.

If you would consider using plastic I would suggest this company:

Signs and Labels Direct - Engraved signs made easy

they have an excellent on-line tool for you to design your panel - and very quick turn around. I've used them a couple of times. Good value too. I was also able to upload small graphic images to add to the design.

Well what a find (y) ?... Thanks !!!! .......... These forums are a trove of useful info.

I couldn't find anywhere local in Germany that would do this for a reasonable price, had a look at your link and discovered they have a German counterpart (Signs and Labels Direct only deliver to the UK).

So after about 15-30 mins using their design tool, this .....

... is on its way, printed on aluminium for the princely sum of €14,89 plus delivery.
