The Wheatsheaf in Yarmouth provides a good selection of basic food and plenty of it and a good selection of beers. My wife and I regularly eat there on our way home from work when we can't be bothered to cook.

If you want something a bit more special then try Fenders - also Yarmouth, just opposite the Wheatsheafs main entrance - we also like this place in fact we have our xmas dinner there each year - no real ale but plenty of bottled beers and a good selection of wines.

The Waterfront Bar - Totland bay, my local. Changed hands a while back and changed chef more recently. went last week for my birthday hadn't eaten there for a while - oh dear! The menu, I was reliably informed, has been 'designed' to allow the 'client' the freedom to mix and match textures and flavours to suit their palate. Where's the vegetarian selection asked my wife - thats the goats cheese tagliatelli she was told, nothing else she asked - it's very nice came the reply. Now, being from the far NE of England both of us have a low tollerance of verbal dancing and the conversation became more abrupt.
There was only three tables active at this time and I still waited over an hour for my roast partridge dressed in game sauce which came without any veg becuse that was all on the additional side orders menu. The daytime menu has stayed the same good value and good sense it has always been. I wonder how next seasons customers will greet the changed evening menu, many of whom are families anchoring over the weekend for the quiet beaches and sheltered water.

Perhaps some of you guys will let us know.
