I have a 9ft pelican jon boat, fiberglass type material, flat bottom so its heavy.. i was wondering what kind of trolling motor is best for it and what kind of marine battery would go well with the trolling motor.

Nobody replied yet so suspect moderation delay dropped post to bottom of page!

Not familiar with type of boat myself but assume to be a dory type at that size and flat? If it's heavy and for trolling/fishing then I'd look at a 4 stroke as in my experience 2 strokes aren't very frugal at low speed! The extra weight of a 4 stroke probably won't make much difference as I suspect you'll only want 15-20hp? What sort of use - river or estuary/coastal? If you aren't going far then a smaller hp would likely be fine, but once you start to go any distance then a bit more speed to get there and back may be welcome :) Short shaft I'd guess if it's low/flat like I think... Battery-wise I'd look at one of the Alphaline DC series or similar - they don't seem to mind being left a while between use.
