What a difference.I bought a big anode a few months ago from SVB in Germany, flat rate shipping up to 30Kg at about half of what you were charged so all the other items in the box were effectively free shipping.
I use Svb almost exclusively these daysI bought a big anode a few months ago from SVB in Germany, flat rate shipping up to 30Kg at about half of what you were charged so all the other items in the box were effectively free shipping.

I was planning to switch completely to aluminum....because I’m tired of the end of season panic about my zincs...but is your friend saying they are not as good ?Scurrilous rumours that the pushing of aluminium for anodes is purely down to the fact that it is cheaper to buy / process and much cheaper to transport than Zinc.
This was from somebody who sells both and has been in the been in the business since the Ark was launched.
Surely not !
I understood that aluminium anodes are suitable for fresh water and zinc for salt water. Happy to be corrected, but have been using zinc anodes in sea water for around half a century without problems.I was planning to switch completely to aluminum....because I’m tired of the end of season panic about my zincs...but is your friend saying they are not as good ?
That was always my understanding as well...but things have changedI understood that aluminium anodes are suitable for fresh water and zinc for salt water. Happy to be corrected, but have been using zinc anodes in sea water for around half a century without problems.
Really, is it the electro chemical reactions between metals and solutions, or the Periodic Table of Elements that has changed? That was always my understanding as well...but things have changed
Fashion has changed....and aluminum is getting popular because they last longer...of course that could mean they aren’t sacrificingReally, is it the electro chemical reactions between metals and solutions, or the Periodic Table of Elements that has changed?
Or is it just that other alloys are cheaper than zinc and sort of give some protection in salt water?
