What you don't like in your boat?

Re: What you don\'t like in your boat?

Heavenly Twins 27 - there's no way to fit a helming seat in the cockpit and when I put a cockpit cushion on the coaming instead the stupid dog nicks it and I nearly smother him when I sit back down. I wish the stoop thrus were 6 inches taller.

Re: What you don\'t like in your boat?

The heavy perspex washboard which has scraped the gelcoat. Other than that the design is well thought out, except that the primary winches cannot be reached from the helm. Not a problem when you have crew, but fun singlehanded.

I find the 75lt fuel tank capacity of my Beneteau Oceanis 361 ridiculously small for such a boat.

Bloody luxury: Contessa 32 - 12 gall water, 12 gall fuel.
A deck stepped mast would be nice.

HR 34

Build quality - no complaints

Design faults - can't reach heads inlet seacock without acrobatics
no bridge deck so would have to fix lower washboard if going oceanic (won't)

other faults - lazyjacks too mean, sail flops over (I haven't got round to changing them, it's only been 9 years)
cockpit drains are always dirty
accumulator tanks keep self-destructing
pulpit lights exposed & keep getting knocked, usually by other craft

RM1050
rain water leak into rear cabin, hope to fix this this pm (before next storm comes!). Leaking hatch and leaking hatch garage, repairs in hand (I hope, need a professional for this, warranty issue). Wretched engine cooling fan drives me nuts at time, only just worked out how to turn it off. And persistent AIS alarms on approaching port (not really a boat issue, more me knowing which knobs to turn!)

Jeanneau SO35 - definitely the Saloon Table.
The job was given to a 5 year old to design, and not a good five year old either.

As soon as I have a grand spare I will do something with it. So not this year or next. Possibly not even the one after that. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Re: What you don\'t like in your boat?

If I don't have my own boat am I allowed to comment on the ones I sail on most?

Re: What you don\'t like in your boat?

Dehler 39.
Came with all heads output directly into the holding tanks with only a gravity feed out. No practical way to put in a diverter valve or a out pump. Never thought of it when the boat was in build otherwise I would have insisted on diverter although they would probably have said that there is an EU rule preventing this. Makes me permanently paranoid about a blockage.

Re: What you don\'t like in your boat?

Foxhound 24, side decks, just a wee bit narrow for clambering forward and the coach roof is a wee bit cluttered. Otherwise I love her very very much!

Re: What you don\'t like in your boat?

horrible textured vynl headlining in my Sabre 27. very hard to make her go down wind nicely. can't see over the coach roof easily when sitting in cockpit.
