What you don\'t like in your boat?

OK, here is an interesting hopefully thread. Describe what you DON’T like in your sailing boat!!! But don’t mention something that the boat is not meant to do. For example don’t say “…my cruiser is slow in comparison to this X race machine in my marina…”.
To start with:

I find the 75lt fuel tank capacity of my Beneteau Oceanis 361 ridiculously small for such a boat.

Re: What you don\'t like in your boat?

My sail boat is too small/light when I am sailing and too big/heavy when it is on the trailer behind the car.
And I don't like the space inside that the centre board takes up when raised but I do like the trailerable aspect and shallow draft when it is up. However by the time you read this (noon GMT) I will be out there doing an evening/night race in 20knots and 18 degrees and loving it.

Westerly Konsort. I don't like the size of the engine casing / step. It is useful as it doubles as a work top etc, but the size of it (to accommodate a bukh 20) is obtrusive. If I ever re-engine her, I will probably go for a beta 20 and will be able to redesign the engine step. I've seen one done and it looks far better.

Sometimes the crew irritates me but, apart from that, I can't think of anything.

Oh yes, there is the slight problem of not being able to get her to go backwards in the required direction[ the boat, I mean].

Weston 8500. I don't like the 100 litre fuel tank - I filled it when I bought the boat in 2005 and it's still more than half full!

Why limit it to sailing boats?

The thing I'd like to change about my sailing boat (a tinker) is its weight, it's too heavy to haul on board regularly when using as a normal tender so I keep a lightweight tender too. If I put the davits back on the cruiser the tinker would be perfect, but they are too ugly and cost too much in marina fees.

In the cruiser (a Sealine S37) I want more deck storage for my inflatable flotilla.

Re: Don\'t like . . .

It doesn't plane downwind at 15 knots like my Jouet did when overcanvassed, only 11 knots at 2500 rpm and 10 litres/hour!

My boat is perfect in every way.

(first season owner, still very much in honeymoon period, ask again in a couple of years)

Good thread OP.

Leisure 27; the cockpit is not long enough (they fixed this by making a 29) and the side decks are rubbish (but the cabin space is massive).
