Hello Ive just purchased the new v39 but now have the dilemma of hull colour?
I like the grey but think it may be a bit of a fad I have the option of blue but cannot decide what would look best??? Any ideas??

I would get the grey, with the black roof. My order of pref would be grey (looks fab and very 2012), white (classic, can't go wrong), blue (a bit "5 years ago", tres conservative). Just imho though

I dont think the grey is a fad. Boats last too long. Coloured hulls (other than blue) have been around 10 years and are still going strong fashion wise

Your thread title doesn't tell people what the thread is about. "Which hull colour on new princess v39" would work better

Congratulations on your purchase - a great choice, and as for hull colour, what a wonderful decision to have to make. If I were choosing I'd go for grey for the same reasons as jfm gave.

When do you take delivery?

Nice choice of boat, I would go for the grey for all the reasons stated already. Plus the fact that as the majority seem to lean towards it grey should make it easier to sell when you want to change boat, as far off as that may seem now!

It's a shame the Princess website doesn't allow you to spec it in different colours as you can with cars.

My thoughts looking at individual images were: Hmm, grey's nice. No, wait, so's blue. No, no. Hold it right there, so's white. :D

Good luck with whichever you end up choosing.

How about White & add vinyl colours. If you don't like it they can be removed, it then makes your boat unique. Just a suggestion, perhaps there are others that can pass their experiences on the pros & cons of vinyl

Firstly well done. A really superb boat, I was very impressed at the show & posted up some pictures in a separate thread.

As for the colour I agree with JFM that grey looks very good and I suspect will stand the test of time. Personally having had a blue hull on the Fairline Phantom 42 I would stick with white. The colours tend to fade after a while whereas white stays looking white.

I was walking round Haslar at the weekend and noticed a string of red Arvor day fishers all with red hulls. They had all faded bar 1 - which was being machine polished by it's owner!

I found the hull where it curves round to meet the transom was the worst part. Obviously you also show every scuff and mark as well. For the first few years not a problem to colour match, after a while it may prove to be a problem.

Henry :)

For me it would depend on where you're going to keep it. If the med, then white. If UK, then grey. Lovely boat though, many congratulations. When's your delivery slot?

Cheers

It would be interesting to compare the price of the grey option (£5k?) with the cost of buying a white boat and having it Awlgripped in silver (£7k I bet). Silver would look awesome. And congratulations on the boat - look forward to hearing more about it

Slightly surprisingly the coloured hull options (either blue or grey) are £1920 plus vat.

Yup, youre right. Coloured hulls can fade badly in the Med sun especially any surfaces facing even slightly skywards. Boats from a certain manufacturer in Poole seem to suffer from this, as much as any builder. I also wouldn't go for a dark coloured canopy in the Med unless you like to be broiled
