What was your first boat? What have you got now?

Some great pictures, what a great thread.

I started wanting a boat when I sat on a beach in Spain next to Lionel Blair who was with his family. I noticed he seemed to have a collection of speed boats and having great fun, that inspired me into boating, so off I went to Southampton Boat Show.....

1989 Fletcher Arrowstreak 161GTO (Blackmax), a great boat and had that for 10years. Then in 1999 a Sealine S24 and still have it today, again a great boat that I still enjoy. However for the last few years I have been thinking of upgrading to something slightly bigger like the S28, but too much uncertainty with costs these days like fuel, so holding off.

Yes sometning like this I cant believe the septics can tow these, the boat is 37ft long!

I can't see any elaborate braking system on the alloy trailer and the boat is anti-fouled so it may just be a launching/storage one. You would need an air driven system for that size.
The big 7.5 litre V8 Powerstroke diesels really give the F-trucks serious grunt, but this one isn't 'duallie' wheeled, so suspect he has only done a very short tow.
To give the maximum impact of the boat size, the shot is taken from aft of the rig, taken from the front of the truck, it may not be quite as awesome.

Still looks good though :)

Having tried to launch a Chap 350 with a big tractor a few years ago I can assore you they are pretty big and heavy. I seem to rememberthe one in the us was only a few miles from his slip and he did have to have local permits to tow it , it did have power disc brakes but I dont think that pick up was the tow truck somehow.

The Dragon is a lovely old classic yacht Tremlett, very forgiving to sail, if not a bit wet :). The example in this photo looks just stunning, being a Borresen it must be mahogany?
They were a really popular class boat out here, in fact crown Prince Frederick from Denmark comes out to sail at the world championship in Hobart (Tas.)

Of course the other boats look just fabulous also.....how much varnish and sandpaper have you gone through over the years..:D

think you said it all above.......!!! thanks for ur kind words on me boats........Borresen is mahogany,

think we raced with ur mate "Fred" in the Gold Cup many years back in Southern Ireland, he had this wee navy boat over too....& his minders in a rib did not like us getting tooo close on the start line..........but our helm ( girl in pic ) just gave a few nice words as one does on the start line. BB was also at the Gold Cup too......

sandpaper & varnish tooo much & in the early years it was wire wool, wet & dry etc........

My god Andy all that money you have lost on cars, you could be in a squadron by now,but yes worth every penny, they say owning a boat is like tearing £20 notes up, but so is motorsport you and I know that very well!.

So the V40 is still on the cards then?

Paul, there's a few more cars that I've forgotten to add.....

Yes, looks like the deal's going through with the V40 subject to the usual checks on both sides...

Motorsport's might be back on the cards later this year..trouble is it's £50 notes these days for motorsport activities let alone boat's

Just one. 2010: A Monterey 282

Guess when the children needed to learn to drive ;) At the time I was commuting by plane so didn't really need a car. Now I do but ....

I was late into boating so my boat is my first and current one.

She's a 79 Sunseeker Day Cab which looked quite sad when I bought her. After refurbishing her, she's now about to start her 2nd season. So far we've only ventured along the local river. Hopefully we'll get farther afield this year if the engine behaves.
