The further south I get, the more often I ask myself why I took so long to leave.

More wide tales and absolute waffle on progress so far http://www.stingo.co.uk - now cruising nowhere near you

John, hope someone's mentioned this before but the locals in the Canaries refer to a drug smuggler as a Stingo. I have a relative living there who says there's suddenly a lot of police activity - something to do with a Mr Big arriving by boat...

PS ~ unlike some others on here I am not envious at all.

Great to hear from you again. Don't worry too much about big shipping coming and going into the Med on your way to the Canaries. I sailed from Cascais to Lanzarote in june last year, and we DID see quite a few big ships that were obviously transiting to/from the Med, but they were all negiotated in one afternoon, and after that I thing we only saw one other merchant ship, and by the shape of his course, we thought he was heading back up from the Canaries. More boredom than anything else, but we did see a few giant turtles swimming by.

Enjoy!

John, You say that it takes hours to write one of these updates.

Please be assured that it is time very well spent, because its always a bloody good read for a large number of people.

Keep up the good work and don't stop enjoying yourself!

Hope you get to see February's YM somewhere along the way - you are well featured by TK!
