What tape on turnbuckles?

Just out of interest, why isn’t it possible on yours? My view is that at one of the most critical structural points on boat, what I really don’t want is tape covering up what’s going on there.
Because the only split pins that fit won’t stop the body rotating unless they extend and are bent back around the body of the turnbuckle. The size of the holes in the turnbuckle threaded parts dictates the size of the split pin. In other words if I fitted short split pins or bent them so they didn’t protrude, they wouldn’t stop the turnbuckle turning.

The tape doesn’t stop you checking all is well.

But surely - turnbuckles will turn anyway - split pins are there to secure the small through pins at each end of the unit ? To stop the turnbuckle from turning - you either have nuts to tighten against the body or the special clips that pass through the body ??
