What paint for my new turbos.

I'm out in Spain and putting off fitting my new turbos.
Just realised that the cast iron part will need painting or I guess it will quickly look like a pile of rust.
Not fussed about matching VP colours so will a single coat of hand brushed Hammerite be ok?

Are you talking the snail? if so forget it, just have a look at it when you are motoring, I think you will getmy drift?

Or to put it another way, it will get bleedin' 'ot! I don't know whether things like Kurust would still work in that sort of temperature but it would be better than any paint.

I painted mine with hammerite and it stayed on OK - but they were water cooled turbos.

Mine are water cooled (KAD43) so let's see.
Just finished the hammerite painting (actually the Spanish equivalent.... smells the same!) looks quite posh actually.
Waiting for them to dry then I can put off fitting them again

Ok if water cooled, but that snippet would have been handy, especially to us dinosaurs

Etch primer then Volvo green paint, don't apply too much to the centre area as it will burn off.

Ford Meadow Green (available in spray can from Halfords) is a reasonable match to Volvo Penta Green.

I would wait to see if they work 1st ---- before spending any more .
Then paint them insitu if they arn,t coming off !

In hindsight that's a great suggestion, it would also have saved me lots of masking off as well.

Couldn't agree more, once you have used the correct stuff you realise it's worth paying a bit more for it, far superior to the cheap aftermarket paint that you need twice as much of to cover.
