I hadn't noticed it until you mentioned it. Ads are so much of a given thing on the web that I no longer see them. Guess I'm on IPC's side. It provides sailing nuts like us with a valuable facility for free - why shouldn't it try to cover costs or even make a profit by flogging some pixels to multinationals.

I can't see any ads. I don't have an ad-blocker installed, and though I'm at work I wasn't aware of a centralised ad-blocker being provided. Certainly I see plenty of ads on other sites.

Are they rolling it out bit by bit? Or just spamming people they don't like?

I tend to agree with 'Twister Ken', in that we have an excellent free facility with this forum and don't therefore begrudge YBW an opportunity to make a bit of money on the side. Though I must admit that it's easy for me to say I don't have a problem with the ads being there, as I don't see them, thanks to my ad blocker!

And I don't ever, ever drink coffee so the ads are wasted on me.

Yep, seems to. I just installed it on my iPad (Safari) and it works fine.
