What make is it?

It's not a Mirror Offshore is it?

Don't think so..

As I he says its a Saifish18.
Not a bad little trailer-sailer I beleive

Correct, it is indeed a Sailfish 18, idiosyncratic looks (imho) but sail extremely well, they do have a few inherent faults, not least the Sailfish smile, this is caused by the foredeck at the stem parting company from the hull, but most of the problems have been ironed out on the boats that come to market. There is a website for them............

http://www.sailfish.org.uk/

Find a nice one and you can't go far wrong. The Sailfish has the same hull as the Sandpiper 18, the Sandpiper is much more of a rare bird, but a much prettier boat in my opinion, the difference is in what is on top of the hull.

Very lightly built & lightly ballasted; OK in sheltered waters & moderate winds. I met one whose keel had dropped out, but the rather foolish skipper pressed on in coastal waters; don't know the end to that story.

Designed & built with rather too much of an eye on being easy to handle on & off trailers, rather than sailing, IMO.

If looking at one the usual precaution re. lift keelers applies, has the keel plate been maintained ? So a keel down inspection is necessary.

the keel fell out of the one in the photo too

The Sailfish 18 .I've sailed them and raced with and against them too.
They sail very well and give a dinghy like response. Visibility forward whilst sailing with the genoa is very restricting and view through the forward windows of the cabin was needed.
They are quite fast for their size and a club member did very well in Pursuit races; the one or two times I raced one for friends we came second out of 15, one of the first of the one of a kind class race Sailfish sponsored.
Should you need to replace fittings they are dinghy-sized and priced.
Have not heard of deck lifting but my friend did have a persistant leak from the hull /deck jointing aft, that took a lot of finding (using talcum powder).
The boat goes well under power and is easily retrieved to and from the trailer. As mentioned a periodic lift to antifoul should also be the opportunity to check the drop keel conditon and renew the gear, this can be done on blocks and jacking if no cranage available. Most were fitted with a furling foresail and a smaller sail than the genoa wouldn't harm general sailing performance too much - a Wayfarer jib or similar size.

The Sailfish 25 is a totally different type of boat, well built too, but heavy steering as I recall. No connection but the "OUZO" was of this type.

Definitely overpriced.
I am an 18ft yacht fan and have looked at a Sailfish 18 when looking for a boat which ended up being my Seahawk 17, Feckless.
There is quite a question mark over the integrity of the keel box and keel fixing. They are a good sail though for a lightweight.

A good boat of this size and age with road-worthy trailer and OK outboard plus sails which will last you a good 2 or 3 years should be no more than about £1500 for a real pearl.

I count on getting such a boat for under £1000.

Seller is a dork
16 foot sailing boat
4 stroke
good condation
masting sails with boat
It's 18ft
It's going to be a 4hp
Condation?
Masting??

I'd have thought £1800 is not unrealistic as an asking price for a boat, trailer and outboard all in good condition with all the usual extras you'd expect. Presumably open to negotiation.

I don't see a boom .. hopefully stowed in the cabin ... but check!

Welllllll.... I base my assessment on the fact that my 19 footer with all the same was half that...... she may be older ( don't tell her...) but even so....

Fantasie 19,

I'd rather be on your boat in F1-12 inclusive, I'm afraid after my experiences meeting Sailfish 18's if I was to find myself suddenly aboard one I'd have rather sweaty palms and be checking my lifejacket every 5 minutes...

Asking price I said...expect the final selling price to be a lot less.

Anyway you cannot compare a Fantasie 19 with a Sailfish.
