Can anyone identify this light for me please?

On a Yamaha diesel inboard with outdrives.

Without looking it up, I would go for coolant header tank low. Worth checking this anyway as its easy to do.

Agree with ripster, looks like a coolant level warning. I know its not a bloke thing but dare I suggest you look in the manual?;)

its almost certainly a level indicator but could be water or oil could be worth checking drive oil reservoir level as I know the mercruiser system links the drive oil into the same light as the engine oil

A search on the Yamaha outboards site shows the same icon on one of their square instrument displays alongside temp and battery lights/icons.. The spec doesn't say directly what it is but the warning functions are listed as temp, battery, crankcase oil level...

There is no sensor in the coolant header tank and that is up to level as is the coolant. I would look in the manual if I had one, but I don't - that's why I asked on here. :)
A Yam manual I just looked at online says that a warning sign just like that is the coolant level alarm. Why would there be a sensor in the header tank anyway? More likely the sensor is below the level of the header tank IMHO but I may be wrong

Of just the red lights, I would guess the middle left would be oil pressure and bottom left would be oil level; middle right water pressure and bottom right coolant level. With Top left alternator and top right coolant temperature).

I did take quite a bit of weed out of the water filter and the warning light now goes out when the revs go up so it looks like it might be indicative of a partial water blockage, the warning is intermittent at tick over. Checking the water pump impeller might be the next step.

I would still appreciate confirmation from anyone with actual knowledge of this set up that I am guessing the warning lights correctly though.

Ripster, who you agreed with, suggested it was "...coolant header tank low". Surely for it to light an indicator, it would need a sensor? But I've checked, the header tank is up to level - I've removed the pressure cap and checked and the expansion tank has coolant in it too.

Do you know the engine type no?

I think Mike's agreeing that there's a sensor, he's just suggesting it might not be in the header tank itself, it might be below it (on the basis that the warning light only comes on when the level is well below the normal level, ie perhaps below the bottom of the header tank).

What specific model of yamaha engine is it? Is the helm panel OE or aftermarket?

I've got conflicting paperwork which says DE-DHD and says both 180 and 240 HP. I need to have a look at the engine plates. The panels are original fitted by the boatbuilders when the engines were fitted.

Whilst I'm appreciative of help, I can make guesses myself. What I am really hoping for is someone with knowledge of these particular lights who can tell me categorically what they are, perhaps someone with Yamahas in their own boat or an engineer with knowledge of them. I have had a quick search but can't find anything on the internet at the moment

The one with the teardrop is oil. I think the wavey line with no arrows is water level and the one you are referring to is water pressure. Don't suppose the wires to the panel are colour coded by chance.

I would say bottom left is warning of water in the fuel filter.

Symbols with arrows pointing inwards are pressure symbols, the wavy line is water. Header tank sensors are always in the header tank whether they are coolant or drive oil (Mercruiser).
You have diagnosed the problem already by removing weed from the filter, but it looks like you need a new impellor anyway, as water pressure will be at its lowest at idle speed, hence your light going out with more revs.
