Harness clip on point while working on the headsail?

I wouldn't clip in there, looks way too flimsy.

They are/were intended to keep the lazy halyards.

This is plausible, thanks. Presumably to stop them banging against the mast when anchored/moored, or temporarily just before hoisting a spinnaker, I imagine. Otherwise the lazy halyard would interfere with the genoa.

Spinnaker guys/sheets when the Spinnaker is in a bag on the foredeck getting ready to hoist. If a clip is shackled to them the sheets can be taken round the forestay & to the sail Then it takes the weight off the actual sail to stop it accidentally pulling out of the bag. When ready to hoist the clips are released & the sheets/ guys are immediately ready to deploy. They can also be used to leave the sheets/guys in place, but ready, when the spinnaker is not fitted. Just means the crew in the cockpit can pull them in a bit to stop them flapping around on the side deck.

PS have you got a wood burner at home? I see that you have gathered a lump of flotsam & placed on the foredeck ready to take home
