I also agree with the deck socket/plug combo nomination.
This year I removed mine because it was always corroded. I was going to replace it like for like but couldnt be bothered because I know in time that will go the same way as the old one. I ponded using deckglands, but then I came up with a plastic pipe fitting from an outboard external fuel tank which fitted in the hole and had a nice 90 degree bend in it.
I fitted that instead. There is no chance of rain getting in. The bend is a couple of cm above the deck so most spray or water on the decks wont go down it. To make it extra dry I could add some flexible pipe to the end and take it into the mast.
Probably needs a photo to make sense.
