What have you managed to cockup this year ?

Decided in all clarity to sail over (rather than around) colne bar.

There's a reason why they put the buoys there.

I usually sail over it at more than half tide if water is flat. There is more depth further in rather than just inside the Colne Bar. Coming back one day with Pipedream Alan we crossed inside the Inner Benchhead /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Probably near high water.

I mis-identified Foulness phb, or maybe Ridge, on the way out on a falling tide in grotty weather and nearly tried to sail over Foulness Sands.

I have now given in and been dragged bodily into the 20th century. I have bought a chart plotter. Must get it wired in over winter, if I can figure out where to put it.

Sailed over the bar on Sunday quite close inshore (almost directly to no. 1 from about 0.5m off Clacton) a couple of hours before high, never saw less than 3.9m under the keel.

Got a similar problem here Duncan, only with me I have a chart plotter but don't know yet if it works, so got to get it to Guapa who has agreed to test it before I can think about wiring it in
Have screwdriver, if needed, just shout

Now you see - in my wisdom I had believed I could slip across at just after low water. I know, I know, what kind of idiot etc...
