Whilst walking the dogs in the fog this morning we discussed this and both came up with the same answer.
Its wasn't heavy weather, it wasn't restricted visibility, it wasn't swamping the dinghy (and the outboard) it wasn't any of our mooring/anchoring/navigational cock ups.
It was the Stuart Turner fitted to our first cruising boat. Its over twenty years ago now but memories of that recalcitrant little b@stard still give us both nightmares.
