It is EIADDN which is the 1950s Fordson Major tractor engine which ran up until about 1964. When I was a young lad I was in charge of the paperwork for dismantling the engine plant which I think went to EBRO in Spain The 5350 is just the code for the cylinder block.

Engine was also used in the Thames Trader trucks and many industrial applications including marine. Your best bet for spares is a Ford tractor dealer - although Ford no longer make tractors, some of the oldies are still in use and I expect there are some oldie folks who remember them lurking in the back of parts stores!

Can't help much on gearbox as that would have been the choice of whoever marinised it. To be honest I think you will have real difficulty in getting it up together as Unlike say a Perkins of the same era it really was not a popular marine engine.

There are moments when the forum's breadth and depth of knowledge is truly awe-inspiring!

Thanks Pete. Sad isn't it! I left Ford in 1968 and have been waiting ever since for an opportunity to share such nuggets! I lived and breathed part numbers in my job there.

This advert is for a gearbox previously fitted to a 6D complete with bellhousing so may be what you are looking for.

'PRM 301 GEARBOX. 3:1(I THINK)
THIS WAS ON A WING ENGINE SO WAS RARELY ENGAGED ALTHOUGH THE ENGINE WAS USED TO RUN HYDRAULICS. IT WAS FITTED TO A THORNYCROFT FORD 6D ENGINE AND STILL HAS THE BELL HOUSING ATTACHED.THE GEARBOX MAY HAVE BEEN SEMI SUBMERGED IN FRESH WATER DUE TO A DECK LEAK DURING LAYUP. I CANNOT GUARANTEE WHAT IT`S LIKE INSIDE.
THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD IS FROM THE SAME ENGINE. THE INJECTION BEND IS ROTTEN BUT THE ALUMINIUM CASTING SEEMS OK.
NOT LOOKING FOR A LOT OF MONEY SO MAKE AN OFFER.
CAN DELIVER TO OBAN,LOCHALINE OR KILCHOAN F.O.C '

You don't say where you are based.

Fordsons are popular as they're such reliable starters. The picture is from Newbiggin. You probably already know that there are are a few places locally where you may be able to find a suitable gearbox.
