I'm building a small pram dinghy and have been given an old wooden mast boom and sail that is the perfect size.

The sail has a penguin on it (sorry I havn't leardned the art of posting a pic), any idea what dinghy would have had this logo on the sail?

Are you sure its not a Puffin although it has a two part aluminium mast

There was also a polystyrene hulled dinghy called the Puffin

I know about the Prout one 'cos I've got one

Edit No the Prout Puffin sail is smaller than that.

The Pacer ws originally called a Puffin Pacer I believe

It will need a pic. Get an account on Photobucket & put the pic there, set it to 800x640. Then copy its url address and, when you write a post, click on the image button & you will be prompted to paste the link into the post. Preview your post to check everything is OK.

No set it to 640 x 480 (large). That's the largest size allowed for these forums.

Copy the "IMG Code" and just paste that into a post where you want the picture to appear. No need then to use the forum mark up as the tags are included in the IMG code copied from P'bucket.

Ah Puffin Pacers our club bought 6 new ones a few years back for the juniors to use as team racing boats. I must say they are not used much and seem to be a bit of a waste of money but they are nice boats all the same. olewill
No I don't know if they have any symbol on the sails

What dinghy is this with penguin on the sail?

Hi

I am looking at acquiring this boat that has a penguin on the mainsail. It is different to the penguin class.
I would appreciate some ideas as I need to rebuild the centre board and rudder.
I possibly need new sails so any info would be great.

Yes I agree, probably a sail bought as a rough weather spare. Any trapeze gear attached to the mast ,or an HIN number embossed on the hull anywhere? If 505 there may be a manufacturer's plate fitted to the hull, Parker's or other?

Hi All and thanks for looking.

I have also been searching and asking a lot of yacht clubs in South Africa.

Apparently it is a South African made Penguin made by a Dutchman called Jaap Constants.
There were only about 300 made.
Some of the boats have a spinnaker and yes they have a trapeze. Should be great fun to try and sail one single-handed in a brisk breeze.
