Though perhaps that's changed since VHF, mobile phones, GPS, Navtex, GRIB files and other weather charts, three day forecasts, marinas, RADAR, AIS . . . so nowadays . . .

Learning how to use technology sensibly? Hmm. Not so much fun now, less adrenalin.
