What boat?

The Cat B is a problem?
Why do need to be capable of handling Force 8 and 4 metre waves in a sub 24 foot boat? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

It is for use in "all weathers" in the waters around Alderney, so while the full Cat B specs are escessive it does need to exceed Cat C. Call it a C+ perhaps?

Have a look at the trusty t23 made in kidderminster i think ,there was a lot of interest in this boat at the nec,
it is cat b rated and it even has a small bow thruster

regds ash

Is that Cat B?

As mentioned above, the Targa 25, which is Cat B rated, is a cracking boat, but is about 27ft long. Not sure how long the 23 is - was tested in MBY last/this month.

Targa or Seaward 23 would be my choice but not sure if that's Cat B either.
Orkney also do a nice solid 24 footer.

Don't think Ch.Island 22 is Cat B - don't think it has a self draining cockpit, for example. It's an old design that I'm sure was unable to make Cat B when the categories were introduced.

Not really certain what the value is in being Cat B is, as against Cat C - after all, it is often the manufacturers desire to just test to the lower level. In most of the criteria, the boat that has a Cat C certificate may well pass as Cat B.

Correct comment ref the Channel Island 22.
Self draining cockpit prob was one of the items that helped the Builders descision to halt building the 22.
Silva Yates continued with the 32 for a while.
In fact the 32 is still in build with the current Builders.

Shame.
The Hull would suit Malthouse's requirements.

My little 22 thought it was a 42 heading into a 'Sea' didn't like it up the blunt end though!

With 140 horses on tap She would make 19kts.

Did Douglas to Puffin Island (Anglesey) once, 54 miles in 4.30 hours.
Used 15 galls of red!

I've always thought the CI 22 was a super little boat. An impressive memory was when I was messing about on "The Bar" and one appeared from the Dartmouth direction.
We had a 3m+ swell coming in and this helmsman skilfully put the boat just behind the crest of the wave. At what seemed to be full power, he balanced her there for about 200m. Wish I'd had a camera with me.

Seaward 23 is Cat C but Seaward 25 is Cat B - apparently it's because the Seaward 25 has a self draining cockpit but 23 doesn't. Are Duver's Cat B?
