A big TA to all of you who took the trouble to reply to my "skipper request"
What a great site this is, restores my faith in the human spirit.
i always found some sort of comfort in the fact that boaty types do have a common ground on which the rest of the world could learn from !

Anyway thanks a bunch guys,
and may your wind always be with you.!!!
James.

Dont know anything about wonderfull. We all just want a go with your boat. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Folk that did not reply just dont live in your area.

The other thing is. What has historiclay made this site great, is the amount of input, as opposed to folks just asking questions for the learned pannel to answer. So when you have got the boat to where ever. Come back and tell us about the trip, disaster stories are most welcome. Especially if you can exagerate like buggery and add some humour.

Hope you decided to stay put untill the weather improves though.../forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

i have made several contributions to this site with my limited knowledge,
i get the feeling from your comments that this is "your" site. ie, part of the clique that make the cosy little comments that nobody else can understand.
well, buddy, remember when you started out........nahhhh you probably dont.....to long ago hey.........
i just wanted to thank those who took the trouble and time to make a genuine contribution to my query and not some saddooo who has nothing else better to do than slip in crap (thinks their funny) comments.

reading your rubbish over the few MONTHS i have been on this site and heard you say, i feel runs down the good name of those trying to move on.
get a life pal

Haydn provides much welcome relief to the tedious usual questions on here. We are happy to welcome you here, and your contribution is as valuable as everyone else, but dissing core members who provide most of the genuine feedback to new members is probably not the best way to start?

Why not come to the Mecrury Meet and meet many of the people on here. Once you meet them in real life, they take on a very different perspective.

I think he was shooting at me but his aim wasn't too good. Your comments were constructive and helpful as ever.

Now Now

Although I agree with what you say you must remember that anyone with more than 8000 posts ran out of anything constructive to say a long time ago and has now to resort to pure drivel.
I think you are being a little hard on Haydn who just has a wicked sense of humor .
Brendo has none however but that’s only to be expected as it seems he uses Anne Robinson as a role model.
So go along to the Mercury Meet and get a hug, everyone will be there,
Both pissed.

Well I took. WHAT A WONDERFUL LOT As a term of endearment, suppose I should have taken it as a slure. And whats this lot about!!...."cosy little comments that nobody else can understand.".......... There no clique here. But there are folks that have met here years ago and are now firm friends.

Sorry Haydn

He`s right, As a newcomer to this site with less than 200 posting I have been

Tested, caught out, praised, scorned, thanked, respected sneered at offered out and sworn at (in French) and that is all in 2 weeks.

To your shame this is how you treat your newcomers.

[ QUOTE ]
Albert, a short search through your history of posting says it all. There is a wonderful new facility on this new software. It's called the ignore button. Bye bye, you are the weakest link.

[/ QUOTE ]

That posting is the total arrogance of someone who thinks he has the right to dismiss someone from the forum.

And if that’s not coming from a clique then I don’t know what is.

This week to my dismay Mash was hounded out, I hope he comes back but I don’t think so, I would have liked to talk to him.
So we have lost an airline pilot but still have a nipple tweaker, we are the losers.

You can see how you have got people when they timidly Knock on the door and ask If they can come in.
I kicked the bloody door down and walked straight in and that`s as it should be. but it seems the old guard didn`t like it.

If there`s a clique here I have just commited forum suicide.
If there`s none the sneering at newcomers will stop.

Either way I couldn`t give a sh/t.

Not you Haydn
You`ve always been the perfect (misunderstood)gentleman.
Though as a clique member you unwittingly support it.
It`s him over there.

Re: Ang On A Bit

Now,now Uncle A., - think you owe the Rt Hon.H.Bohen an apology as you have seriously misquoted him.
Not sure how you decide who's in "The clique" and who isn't. Like you, I'd like MASH to return, in my case to give us an answer as to why airline safety rules are inconsistent. If he was put off by the reception he got then that's his problem because he was as ill-mannered in his postings as the other couple of posters had been.
You've also got to remember the time of day - actually night - that some of the "discussions" take place. I suspect that tiredness and an excess of alcopops may play a part in some poster's "attitude".
Surely this site is just a microcosm of what goes on in society "outside".

Brendan
Thank you for showing a classic example of the newcomer being hounded for telling the self appointed moderater (you) to lay off T_S who started the thread. And I`m proud of it.
Here`s what you said – for regulars read clique.

It's one of the more popular threads hereabouts, and so the regulars here have seen it aired many a time. A bit like ensigns and flag etiquette etc etc.

That`s a put down, and that`s what Im talking about.
And another

[ QUOTE ]
he's referring to the 'link' boxes on bottom left and bottom right. The one's that contain the text "Lorem ipsum dolor sit ......." At least we know now why he has dog as his avatar....he's barking mad!

[/ QUOTE ]
It`s all designed to make the newcomer feel inferior

Do you want more cause there`s plenty of em.

Re: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

We must have a chance at the Grand Slam now, though no one wants to admit it, in case it puts a jinx on the Ireland match next Sat.

I'm glad Scotland came back on invigorated in second half, as it would be a shame to have won against a very capable team in the way the first half went.

I think one of the best comments was that the current Welsh team aren't superstars, they just work together very well as a team. Whilst the 70's stars were very much superstars who didn't always work together but played superb rugby. The first half was wonderful to watch, some real stunnning play, but was let down by less than stunning play by Scotland, and their coach was not a happy bunny!
