Boat back in water yesterday after some repitched props antifoul, engine venting and general fixing so we were excited to get down this morning to test her out.
The weather could not have been better for the time of year and I felt I needed to check my watch to confirm that it really was mid October.
After my usual cleaning, poking around and annoying Joanne we left Hythe at around noon with the lock to ourselves. Once past the Hythe ferry I pushed down the controls and the boat almost lept onto the plane like never before and levelled out quickly with the best part being no brownish following haze. The engines seemed so much smoother with more acceleration and more responsiveness than before. Due to the repitching the revs seem back where they should be. I was very happy indeed. 23.7 knts on GPS against the tide was also an improvement for us.
Lunch at West Cowes and a wander around the town (felt so empty compared to just a few weeks ago) and then back accross the Solent which had lost some wind and chop as well as boats by then.
Back to Hythe, cleaned boat, fed girls and then drove home up an unusually quiet M3 and still have a Saturday evening and a Sunday at home before work on Monday. Still felt we had a good weekend of boating in one day (speed boating...?).
Still some signs of the dreaded soot but very much better than before but time will tell as i have been told this should still get better.
Great day but now need to work out how pay for all these improvements...
