I\'ve seen a whale in the Solent.

Just a pity it was dead.

Bringing boat back from Christchurch to Southampton on Monday evening when noticed lifeboat and Harbour Launch around a tug that was towing what I thought was some kind of cigarette racer, i.e. low and long. This was around Thorness Bay so they still had some way to go before getting to Gosport.

Any comparisons between whales and some of our more substantial forum members should be avoided.

1 45ton, Blimey! dead whale hoicked out of Solent, towed to Lee on Solent early hours of this morning. info Southampton Echo today.

Well at least nobody will be endangered by it now. Apparently it was a Fin Whale, which is an endangered species. Pity it could not have been a more common one.
