Ok, head above the parapet

We're berthing at Weymouth this weekend for a couple of nights.

£200/night, yes more than usual but 4 peeps on board so consider it as £50/head for a 'lympic ticket. About par for the course or less, praps

I'll report back once we've been there and back.

BTW, I know the square root of f**k all about dinghy racing just going down to soak up the atmosphere.

Weymouth Marina website's Olympic page says they are charging £2.95 per metre per day if you want to spend all 16 days of the event there, which is a pretty standard plastic parking lot marina rate.

Whaar'am I missing?

It's 18 quid per metre per night for visitors.

"It's only day two and is living up to my expectations of how the privileged few can f**k it up for rest of us."

You poor, down-trodden thing. Life must be so hard for you. I do hope you win the lottery.

it is a complete fiasco from the beginning. If there had been any other publicly funded event that overran its budget by 4.25 times there would have been a major outcry and public enquiries. Either we were lied to about the costs of the Olympics or they were so incompetent they got the sums badly wrong or both. Not a good foundation on which to launch such and event

If the true figure was published in the first place (which tge government already knew) the public outcry would have prevented the all seeing event!!!

Can't quite see the point of that. Bit like all the colleges and universities which build over-designed over-costly facilities.
The Millenium Dome was also miracle of design and engineering which cost us a fortune and gave someone else (eventually) a cheap venue to operate.

If you are talking of over engineering some of the Victorian structures beat the current crop into a cocked hat. Even the water towers they built looked more like a gothic pile than something to hold water. I am glad they did it as they do enhance our landscape.

And the IOCwould have lumbered the French with the Games as out bid would have been too high. To think that sport is supposed to be committed to stamping out cheating...NOT at this level.

Too little, too late I would think.

No, the £10 per metre was the cost in the anchorage. As they had so few takers, the anchorage isn't being serviced and you are being offered a free upgrade. Those that had already paid £18 are out of pocket.

Sadly, no official is going to come up and admit they got greedy and fecked it up. They (officials and businesses) saw pound signs on everyone and jacked up all their prices thinking people would just stump up. I'm very pleased people have made it clear to these greedy feckers that this behaviour is completely unacceptable.
