Hi all
Bringing my boat back next year from he Med. I am thinking of keeping it at Weymouth for a year. Are there any problems ie theft damage.
Thanks
Maurice

Do they have room? It was full when we visited there in the summer, as were lots of south coast marinas.

Its the marina in Weymouth town centre. I last contacted them about 2 years ago when i was first planning to come back to the UK then Covid got in the way. My boat is 13m a Moody 44. I havnt considered the other marinas in the old naval harbour

There are two marinas in the town centre. Choose from Boatfolk starting at £554 per metre or the council marina at £378 per metre. The former has the advantage of a car park and probably better showers and not much more as far as I can tell.

The council marina is run by the berthing team in the harbour office. Really nice, helpful people. Give them a call on 01305 838422 ask about availability (aka the length of the waiting list).

To answer your question, I've not heard of any theft or damage. There's a gate to the pontoon with a key entry system and the harbour team patrol pretty regularly. Really nice atmosphere as well; lots of folks happy to stop and chat (but that's Dorset for you!). There are not many 13m berths but it's always worth asking.

I am in the council marina. As you say, very friendly crowd and staff, but not many 13 meter berths, and no parking could be an issue for someone who doesn't live close by.

We were on the waiting list for 24 hours for a 10m berth. I'm a bit concerned about carparking, the Boatfolk carpark is secure, on site and included but we're looking at getting a permit which covers (I think) all the dorset council carparks.

Both Weymouth and Portland marinas are run by Boatfolk, and the council marina by Weymouth Harbour . As has been said secure parking available at the Boatfolk marinas. No specific parking at the council marina, but a reduced permit is available at extra cost for some specified car parks in Weymouth. Weymouth Harbour

Sadly, the reduced parking permit is no longer available. You can now get a permit for certain long stay car parks in Dorset plus 2 hours free in others for £260 a year. There is a car park across the road from the marina. This will be built on at some point in the future. The alternative is a few minutes walk along the harbour.
