Anybody ordered something from them over the Internet? Anything I should know before ordering?
I am looking at a Raymarine ST40 Wind system that costs £275 here. West Marine will charge £225 incl. Delivery within 4 days and all taxes paid!!! How can you beat that?

They have a freephone number too to call from UK goes to their order centre in California. They are very good, their catalogue is a veritable bible of marine products. I placed an order on a Friday by phone, it arrived the following Tuesday.

I didn't think West were prepared to deal with the tax for you ? Have they changed their minds or are you adding it to their price for comparison?
Absolutely agree that they are pretty good on price and delivery

I have dealt with West Marine for many years and always found them excellent. As someone stated, you may or may not get hit for tax, this will be 20%. If however the gear ordered can be classed as boat safety equipment the tax is generally waived. Be sure and calculate in to the costs the cost of P&P this can be prohibitive on larger or heavier items.

Re: Here\'s a question..

Not absolutely sure, but the duty on optics and torches is about 5.9%, which you add BEFORE adding the 17.5% VAT.

There is some small question about cable lengths too, I'm trying to remember and cannot, it may be radars, but I know there's something where the US units come with less cable than the EU ones.
