Heading down to Poros in July this summer bareboating - any tips and thoughts about this area heading towards Spetses and Hydra with two teenage lads and my wife. So mixture of lively and remote to suit both elements of my crew!

Spent two weeks there in 2012, great sailing area.
Poros is a lively little town, some excellent restaurants. Noisy.
Try to get round to Navplion. Large uncrowded harbour, usual range of restaurants and bars and a superb ice cream parlour. Take a taxi in to Mycenae and a vineyard visit nearby.
5 to 10 miles away the bay at Khadhari is very sheltered and peaceful, a perfect overnight anchorage.
Spetses is a great little town, but v restricted mooring. Squeeze into the old inner harbour if you can. We took quadbikes here to spend the day circumnavigating the island.
At the NW corner of Nisos Spetsai there is a beautiful cove with fine sand beach, perfect for lunchtime stop.
Porto heli was dull. Ermioni more lively.
Hydra is amazing with its marble pavements, but oh so crowded. Crossed anchors galore.
Another peaceful bay is Ormos Skindos, on Nisos Dhokos. But we did get our anchor caught under a chain on the seabed and had to call for a diver.....

Probably loads more, it is a good area. Will be back to Poros in August.

The Saronic and Argolic are reasonably protected from the worst of the meltemi.

The east end of the Hydra Channel can get rough and you may need to beat back up the channel and to Poros so allow plenty of time if the wind is northerly but otherwise you shouldn't have any trouble unless you're unlucky.
