I have been administering the handicaps for a small Yacht Club since 1992. One of these years I will find someone who wants to take it on! The racers are better described as Cruisers who like to race and we have a mixture of Multis and Monos, mainly pursuit races but some timed. I use a performance based process for handicapping that has evolved from the PY method. Back in PY times I had about 10 different handicaps from the different places that I raced range, 950 - 1200. With my new (to me) boat I have 4 from the 2 clubs and 2 regattas where I race. Range 0.83 to 0.96 in the new style. None of these are IRC or NHC, 3 use performance based PY methods, 1 uses a measurement based list. I prefer racing under performance handicaps as it spoils it for me if i know that stand no chance in a race and that it will never change.
