As most now i like to faff about wit all sorts and mainly boats. I was cracking on wit my last one and all man work had been done.
Then a chap i know off was selling his, same boat but a few years older and a MK1 not MK2, not that it matters as this has saved me thousands of pounds and time.

So all up and running ready to go. BUT its me, and T this time as few things to add and change. Boaty scene cushion and panel covers are going. New batteries and a Sonar and also a TV. Thats about it for additions.

Now i still dont know if to swap out the engines for the ones i have rebuilt here. In boat are AQ115 with 100 drives but mine are AQ130 with 270 drives but one rebuilt and other is part rebuilt.

still need to check the compressions yet on the boat. but one was seized but now running well.

all doable before launch in March though.

very happy with the old girl :)

Think i need to update the elec`y box haha

20230923_182551.jpg

So change boat`y covers, fit new batteries and fuse box, buy a Sonar once i choose one, its bad enough that as it is haha. TV and maybe new cooker thats the original one.

Must be me getting old or love a bargain as this cost juts over a grand more than a new canopy would of been for my old project.

North Wales here we come :)

That's a winner for you, Wayne. gets you out on the water with minimal faff. Just looks like the electrics need some TLC.

May you have lots of happy hours on board.

Definetley is.

Looking at batteries now and see the Numax leisure/starter batteries, save son getting starter aswell and leisure. Need to size up the battery box to see if i can get two batteries in there, if not there going in the cabin under seat.

Try it with existing engines and drives before deciding perhaps

That could be the plan, but need to check the engine overs fully here. if compression is bad then its a straight swap out.

Is changing the heads carbs and manifolds an option although might be too much for drives especially old ones although there are reference to 130/ 100 in Volvo Parts list so it would been tried already
Sorting props could be interesting

Congratulations! She looks a cracker

problem is…..we all know what you are like. A bit or wiring could lead to “I’ve cut her in half lengthways as I want a bit more beam” 🤣🤣

I dont know what you mean.........well maybe :) he he
Got a sopping list here now, so resting now shopping for bit. maybe a roll of CSM and a few gallons of resin ;) ;) lol

That is very tidy! A real classic. Something tells me there will be an engine swap... Enjoy!

You would think its a easy swap for these engines but it more that just swapping them over. The AQ115 draw raw water from the hull fittings, where as the AQ130 draw from the 270 outdrives. so holes to be filled and also still need to check if the drive collars are same bolt pattern. think they are.

You'll be bored out of your brains after one trip and tearing it apart. You wait and see!
a yes but my boat yard is free when its launched MMmmm what shall i buy then MMMmmmm

To be honest i wasnt going to sell the other one and continue with it.

And wish i did now. Once i delivered the boat to the new owner he told me his plans for it.

OMG i wish took it back. e is going to convert it to live on, no problem, but then he is going to build an extension on the back deck for more room. I can se eit now, one of then dam boats with a shed on the back as he has no clue on DIY really. i mean bloody sacrilege of what.

Crikey Wayne your long suffering wife is going to be going bikini shopping.

How about going boating and not taking this one to bits?

If you start thinking “I could chop it in two and make it 6” longer” then STOP!!!!

Looks great!

Hi kida. hope your well.

That is the plan, go relax and have fun on it. having fun now ordering bits n bobs for it. some fishing gear next. T loves it. Got a cushion i need to cover for her to bath on top deck in sun for the two weeks of sun we get lol.
I am serious and had enough of faffing about so much. mite just do engine rebuilds etc at home when not at the boat. and use the boat trailer for work...

I thought of that but will depend on how the block is. For an extra 15hp fitting the twin carbs its not worth the hassle. Its the main engine itself i would want to be top notch. And the 270`s are powered tilt as to the manual of the 100 legs. So if the aq130 go in then i would go with the 270 drives with all the gubbins like trim tabs aswell.

Could have kept the other boat, sliced them in half and extended one !
that interior is certainly a bit too hectic for me 😳
no what sort of loony bugger would do that, and i agree with the interior, it will be changed, although not a priority

What is though is the engines, Port fired up straight away. Starboard was not budging and locking up. Its good i have a bit of paranoia and i turn boat engines over by hand before i do anything. And this is the reason why.

Compression test found this result, Port engine is not brilliant but hey ho. it starts and runs well.

Sooo off with its head......

Third valve was stuck. ah well, i knew there would be a problem, and not to bad a one at the minute.

And with that the lift rod was bent.

bores are good. little glazed but good enough...for now :)

20231001_132603.jpg

head over all i good, i was going to get it overhauled but no point if i get it up and running. I do have other engines to go in if these blow up.

20231001_132610.jpg

The manifold is not much cop though, looks like a DIY build. all brackets and pipe work was welded on. good job but nothing fits properly.
I got a new manifold with the boat amongst all the parts i got. Thing is its off a AQ130 so outlet is offset as these are straight.
I managed though to get it fitted. little close to water pipe but moved them out the way nicely.

20231001_133500.jpg

whilst i was at it i thought best to see why a previous owner had done this.

20231001_153854.jpg

20231001_153848.jpg

on removal i found this. i guess they could find an injector port plug. and then...i hope they did all injector ports just incase.

Must say a cheap bodge. but worked i see.

20231001_153905.jpg

20231001_154032.jpg

Now i am not one for bodging but after a search i was unable to find a plug for it myself so i used a better thing to bodge it being JB Weld. Bit more secure than gunk.

Well engine is back together and ready to be tinkered with but unable to update on the running yet.

Fun didnt end there though. that fuse/battery box

20230923-182551.jpg

I got a couple new batteries for leisure and starters. fuse box and isolators

fairly easy really. Those loose ones i am unsure....ok i forgot where i put the note that i wrote down for them. ill sort them later

20231017_180834.jpg

decided to make a lid to hold them inplace, the lid will be fixed/removable

20231017_180845.jpg

20231017_181018.jpg

The starter batteries now are separate, as when i got the boat the leisure were used as starters aswell. not good. I made them a carrier in the engine bay, still need to finish it yet and seal it all.
The isolation i messed up and fitted the bottom one to close to the deck, it can be kicked easy so ill be moving it up out the way.

20231017_181014.jpg

they need wiring up, once i receive the new cables as dont want ti use old ones.

Also have this thing to fit. i must be mad........errr ok, some folk may agree. haha

This will be fitted under the main cabin port seat. i am trying to get a tank made at work so it can be fitted in the area under the port gunnel in the rear deck.

I bench tested it last weekend and it does work :) no error codes an fired up once it primed all on its own.

Doing good aint i, got this far and not removed and altered anything.......yet :) :)

your port engine compression values are OK. It should run for years like that. It might improve with use or laping the valves in.
don't give him ideas!!!

would like for once after 4-5yrs of rebuilding/selling/buying/cutting/rebuilding/selling/buying/rebuilding to see some pics of W on the boat with a bottle of beer in his hand 😄

looks good W!
