When we relaunched following our annual lift for maintenance it was absolutely freezing. Whilst ashore we had, unfortunately taken on board some rain water; suffice it to say that I’m still sat on the naughty step. Motoring back to our mooring our automatic bilge pump kicked in and as our manual pump is set slightly lower and we have a clean bilge we decided to pump out the rest of the rain water. Sadly the manual pump failed. Having removed it and stripped it down the reason for its failure was that the nylon nut that holds its all together had broken up into five pieces. I contacted Whale pumps and explained our problem, in return they supplied a new nut FOC! Excellent!
