I'm pretty sure that it would have been The Bell at Aston Clinton, in Buckinghamshire. Back in the '50s it was one of the few decent eating-places on that side of London and it had a famous cellar. It was about a 40 mins drive from home and we would go there once or twice a year. We went there after we married and I remember having a proper gourmet meal with wine for about £4/10/-. We used to entertain my in-laws on alternate years there and on the last occasion in the '60s I paid about £10-12 for the four of us. The following year they paid about £30 in Surrey in return and we decided that eating out posh was no longer fun.Where?
That was four posts back!I must be more specific... I was asking of Nauti Fox...
