thanks all - looking at the t&c’s it looks like the seller should be on the hook for returns postage too so I shouldn’t be out of pocket.

As a first pass I’ll pass it into an engineering job shop welders to see if they’d do it for a reasonable price and offer the seller to cover the cost. If not back it’ll go.

Quite frustrating but glad I gave a thorough check before I fired the stove up at anchor somewhere!

Why Q1. Because Taylors have them in stock and because they can.
Why Q.2 Because by the time you've paid a good welder time and materials to fix that, you may aswell have purchased a new one.

My only point is that it really doesn’t look to be that difficult a repair………

remembering of course its a flue and therefore carries poisonous fumes which could kill you....so any kind of amateur bodging is a no no....

That’s why I suggested a welder who installs exhaust pipes....
