Why?Sorry to say you'll be lucky to weld that. A new one is about £300.
They are good heaters. I have one. Certainly repairable but depends on how much you are willing to pay a competent stainless steel fabricator/welder on top of the purchase price.I “won” on eBay a fully functional and good condition Taylor’s heater last weekend. Upon delivery I noticed a crack where the chimney joins to the burner.
Before I go through the hassle of returns, is this something which could be easily welded?

I would get a quote from a repair shop and send that and the photos to the seller and give them the choice of either paying for the repair or taking it back. If you were the only one who bid on it they are not likely to want it back. Also, you can see from the fracture, that did not happen in transit/recently.They are good heaters. I have one. Why Q1. Because Taylors have them in stock and because they can. Why?
You obviously dont know the right people.............................Why Q1. Because Taylors have them in stock and because they can.
Why Q.2 Because by the time you've paid a good welder time and materials to fix that, you may aswell have purchased a new one.
That was my first thought. I had one of these heaters - I thought that part was some sort of copper/bronze/summat else material.I would first check that it is stainless….
Never been my experience. In this case, just file a complaint and attach a picture of the cracked part.E-bay is a little more challenging regarding returns. They usually require an independent report on the item before refunds are provided...
