Weird Eberspacher problem

I have a sinking feeling that I'm now looking at a new ECU, as there isn't much left to replace.
When My old D2 was giving problems attributed to the ECU I found it seemed better value to scrap it and replace.
So if you are faced with replacing the ECU, perhaps worth look at the cost of replacing the D2 heaterwith a new one from Butler Technik.
Eberspacher marine specialists will concede that the products are exactly the same as those sold for boats, just half the price, but Eber will not warrant them for marine use and will not allow their 'marine' accredited dealers to fit them. However, Butler T are a large competent and reputable firm and will give you a warranty to match the manufacturers. Good people to talk to when you have problems too.

You're probably right, but I've gone this far with it and the £208 inc p+p for the new ECU I've ordered, isn't a bad deal at all.
Plus if it gives me a cold blower option for the long promised decent summer season we haven't had for years, it'll be doing something the old set up didn't, which is some compensation.

Thankyou to all who have offered advice, it's been very helpful and much appreciated.

I'll report back to say if it works(or not!)

Thanks to all who helped me on this, thanks to your advice my D2 is working again. It turned out to be the ECU.

I should have realised before, because on taking off the old one, I gave it a good sniff and smelt that tell tale faint acharid whiff of a burnt out component. A couple of hundred quid later it works and I also have the added bonus of cold air circulation if we get a decent summer.

Thanks again!
