Well, according to XC weather, things are looking good for the weekend. We're thinking of making our first trip to Ramsgate, the one we postponed earlier in the year due to weather and the works being carried out in the marina. Anyone else going that way ? Anything going on we should be aware of ?

Drag your bones up the hill and keep to the left for the Churchill pub - it's the place (perhaps the only) in Ramsgate where there's good grub and beer at affordable prices.

Don't be surprised at the great welcome you get from the harbour staff - they're famous. I reckon they've all had botox........

Oh, and count yourself lucky if the shower water is warm....

Good luck!

Where's Pete's then? I've only tried the one just up from the Harbour, it was b****y awful. If that's the one, perhaps they were having a bad day...

Pete's Fish Factory is on the front row of pub/eateries just to the North of the inner harbour opposite the disused Amusement Arcade on the sea front. There is a narrow passageway next to it that leads up to the Albion cafe which does the most excellent cooked breakfasts for very reasonable prices. No trip to Ramsgate is complete without visiting these two establishments :)

We had a change of plan and decided to do the Thames trip, that we also postponed earlier this year. I'll bear in mind the Ramsgate comments, as we still plan to do this sometime. Basically, we want to cruise some of that coastal area, Ramsgate, Dover etc and Ramsgate seemed a convenient place to stay a night or two. Thanks for the replies. I'll post a report and some pics of the London trip later.

Concurred, but there is also a good cafe in Addington St opposite the top of Jacobs Ladder.

Great Thai restaurant not far from the harbour - a v pleasant surprise when we were there earlier in the year.

By the way - don't go the wrong side of the shm. These boys did whilst we were there and let's just say that this isn't an actual mooring...
