Typical UK Bank Hols coming, rain windy...
Anyway, the reason we are getting ****e weather this weekend is my fault. Unusually, I decided to plan something nicely in advance and was/am (not sure now) planning on taking a few friends out on the rib with some toys and having a jolly good time with a few beers and some lunch.
And now its going to rain.
Maybe I should have bought a FB and then I could go out round the solent admiring the view. But then on the other hand, they really are ****e at trying to tow toys at 30mph![]()
Leaving the canopies up on a sport cruiser is much the same (if a little noisy) as helming from inside on a flybridge boat, I guess the fact that it's raining has little to do with the boat, just the reluctance of the owner to use it.
I'm afraid I would rather be alongside than pushing through miserable conditions, the spirit of a sport cruiser for me is the same as owning a convertible car, wind in the hair (what's left) and the warmth of the sun on your back.
Flybridge owners add to that, cruising to distant places.
I would imagine most sport cruiser owners but I may be wrong would rather do a spot of dayboating, sheltered anchoring and socialising rather than long passage making, whereas flybridge owners look at extended cruising as their main activity with occasional anchoring second, both boats equally capable of both but more suited for their intended purpose, therefore another weekend trapped in a sport cruiser, not at anchor and without sun and fresh air is frustrating for the sport cruiser owner, not so much for the flybridge owner who enjoys cruising and can still go with their plans.
Secondly many sport cruisers are smaller than any flybridge boat (never seen a 24ft flybridge) and are effected more by the weather than anything else.
I might be wrong, but who cares!, come rain or shine I will be on our boat.
Have you tried![]()
If you want to enjoy boating in the uk you really need to invest in a Flybridge,
ducks for cover .........
FWIW I can virtually guarantee that there'll be a ridge of high pressure rolling in on the 4th, bringing hot, calm days which will last until the 21st, whilst we're on the hard for a few bits and pieces.![]()
Jeeees, what is the matter with you people! you are always moaning about the weather. Latest forecast I got was for 25c and 3/4 Northerlies. What the hell is wrong with that? For Christ sake its onl April after all.
Ok its a bit cool for swimming yet, but still not bad.
Ooops wrong forum, getting coat now![]()
....I mentioned it to Kwakas and he told me something in Greek/Welsh which I'm sure meant....
