I once picked up a w/fax a bit like that with so many feathers on the wind arrows they added triangles representing 50 knots. I was in mid-atlantic at the time and it scared me s***less until I realised it was for 500 mB, i.e. high altitude and what I was seeing was the jet stream.
This one is at 850 so not jetstream level but certainly well above us.
Doesn't that Magic Seaweed site show how much the TV Met Office graphics are a load of dumbed down crud and useless for all practical purposes, let alone sailing ?
