Quite. Our private name for it is "the dump".

Muiden wasn't on my list of places to visit, but I'll give it a go soon.
Thanks for the tip.
Not The Union Flag then ???We went to the smaller marina on the west side next to the castle. Very helpful HM. Very good showers. We handed over a red ensign as they only had a Union Jack to put up when British boats were visiting.

Just came up the Markermeer to Volendam, had to clear weed a couple of times.
You know and I know but I can't be bothered to educate everyone else.
Tenacious stuff innit?
Volendam not on my list of places I want to re-visit. Edam, however, I loved.
Sas van Edam is a good spot to lay alongside

Yes, there's nothing that concentrates the mind more than looking behind and seeing an almost submerged barge approaching at speed. You're probably right, though. My only suggestion is to stay as much as possible in the buoyed channels where the commercial traffic runs; these seem to be free of weed.

I was chatting to a local at Muiderzand who said the weed will be a problem for the next 10 years. Apparently its part of the evolution of the lake bed and will eventually be crowded out by other growth.
Thanks for nothing. I'll be nearly 90 by then.
Do you mean the Jachthaven Stichting Muiden?
