To update after earlier posts, I have now tried Mscan Pro and yippee can receive faxes OK. Also received RTTY OK on Mscan as well as SeaTTY and JVComm software. I still cannot receive Fax via JVComm, the problem I believe is the 'slant' correction which I haven't been able to do as JVComm suggests, the Mscan software is much easier to do this on and results were instant.

Mscan Pro is pricey at around $195 to register and remove the banners they put over the screen inviting you to register. They have a basic Mscan program without RTTY and Navtex at $99 which might be my choice in combination with SeaTTY

SeaTTY seems excellent for RTTY/Navtex and costs $35 only to register

JVComm receives RTTY OK and if I could crack the 'slant' configuration problem this program would be OK and it is not too expensive to register especially as it covers Fax/Weathersat/RTTY and Navtex in one package. I will try and config this with data from Mscan and see if that works.

I've now tried Mscan Pro and it works fine, much easier to configure, please see my post to Bergman. Mscan Pro is pricey, I might go for the basic Fax only version and do RTTY/Navtex with SeaTTY which is excellent at just $35. Thanks for your help.

Glad Mscan worked out ok.

I tried the slant correction on JVcom and could'nt make head or tail of it. Perhaps your system will work - hope so.

I use the free system downloaded from net. Prints are a bit of a pain but as a card carrying Yorkshireman I put up with it rather than pay.

Best of luck

Spent the afternoon on board and now have JVComm working as well. I put in the data from the Mscan slant correction (increased the 11025 by the correction %, I got minus 0.690%, ie 11025 x 0.690% + 11025 = 11101.072). This gave a picture that I then corrected again for slant with the JVComm tool, quite easy once you have a picture to work on.

Recd good faxes from RN Northwood, Hamburg and also from San Fransisco!

Thanks again for your help

I have an ICOM M600 too, you can do everything you want with any of these progams with it, connected via a lead from ext speaker socket (back left) connected to laptop soundcard via microphone socket on laptop.

You only need additional features if you want the program to automatically tune the set to the right frequency at the right time via a schedule you can set up in the programs. This is not really needed since it implies the set and laptop being left on continuously, something most of us do not want to do or have enough battery power to do.

If you are interested, send me a PM and I'll give you my phone number. With help from the forum and a lot of trial/error I think I have more or less sorted it out and have had some very satisfacory results with both Fax and RTTY text.
