Can anyone recommend a weather station suitable for amateur land based use? I´m thinking of something with inputs for temp, himidity, wind spd and direction, squall, pressure AND that can record to memory for the previous 24 hours so i can review and write up at my leisure. Budgt maybe GBP200 to 300. Any opinions?

I saw one in the nauticalia catalogue, thats about all I know, but also in some of the other chandlers catalogues, theres electronic ones available, but wind speed/direction is going to be expensive.

Oregon Scientific make some excellent small electronic units. Bought mine 10 years ago in the US, and it's small enough to take on the boat. Come on leaps and bounds since then, and many more functions available, bonus is they now have many UK suppliers. What your asking for is more in the 500 quid range, but have a look at www.weatherfront.biz for ideas. Also many home build systems which are cheaper....do a google search under cheap weather monitoring...lots of US electronic mags have features on this topic every so often

David Weather Monitor III has all the stuff you want and can interface with a PC to record the data for historic information - but 2 to 3x your budget!

I bought an Oregon barometer, following advice from contributors on this forum. It doesn't do all you want, but it is excellent. I like the fact that it records pressure over the last 24hrs, so I don't have to note it all down. In particular, when I arrive at the boat there's a full record ready and waiting for me to look at. Brilliant!

I know that Oregon do a weather station which has much, if not all, that you are after. Well within your budget too. If its as good as the barometer you will be pleased.

Where do you get it? From this very web site....just click on "Shopping" at the top of this page!

Joe.

PS. Kim, do I get commission?
PPS. I think that Maplin do them as well.
PPPS. That's blown my chances of getting any commission.
