What is happening to our met office forecasts these days. Is it only me or have other people noticed the frightening inaccuracy, and in some cases downright dangerous nature of some of the reports. The sort of thing I am refering to is the forecast of a F2-3 which screams thrlough the rigging at 30+Kn!
Then on the other hand, a warning of F6-7 is received so one stays put only to have a beautiful day with warm sun and light airs.
Do you think it is a conspiracy by the powers that be to downgrade the usefulness of the forecast to us leisure sailors to the point that it can be withdrawn (no doubt saving huge sums of money) and nobody will complain??

Any views?

OK but if you are afloat and having to rely on the broadcast forecasts on radio/navtext and by the cg then what?

Could be a gotcha, but how long have you been at sea?
Charts are available for five days and are not too bad up to three days, especially if you compare them from different sources.
The alternative is a computer and a sat phone!
