Come on then....I need a brief Idiot proof guide to owning a Weather Fax system (Furuno 208A)

I think I have about 8 rolls of paper for that make of weatherfax which you can have for free - sold fax with last boat. If i can find them in my garage and you want them then let me know and you can collect them either in London or at Moodys where our current boat is ashore.

Great bit of kit by the way - have you got the active arial? if not try and get one greatly improves the reception. We used a very long whip arial (attached to the active unit) and carried a spare arial as it is the sort of thing people grab hold of and break off when boarding.

Had no problems using ours so long as we were tuned into the most suitable channel at the right time. Keeping up to date with freqencies was far more important than trying to fine tune.

Great range received mid atlantic no problem (not so good dawn and dusk if I recall) Was a bit of a life saver once when deciding how to deal with a big low on passage in the western approaches.

Furuno technical helpline was very good service worth a call on points of detail.
