Apologies to Gilbert & Sullivan, but seemingly almost all centre cockpit Moodys with cockpit climb-in lockers list to port. And we did, enough for HWMBO to end up on my side of the bed squashing me. And the sink wouldn't empty completely. Otherwise it really didn't make any difference. But we also didn't have a huge amount of water.
Soooo..... i just thought that if we had a bigger water tank on the starboard side ( the 'high' side), it would possibly resolve two problems.
So I ordered a bespoke flexible water tank from those nice peeps at Vitus, via those even nicer peeps at Vitesse Marine, and it finally arrived on Monday.
We have potentially 270 litres capacity in the new tank, but I have built a nice little platform and carpeted the whole space so it isn't quite that big now. But it has increased our tankage by 50 to 80 % /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
So lots of showers and more freedom from marinas. And the boat is more upright too.
But it was a h*ll of a job to fit. With potentially 1/4 tonne of water under the starboard saloon berth, I reinforced all the woodwork and glassed in an extra panel. But it is bullet-proof now. The tank also seemed to have a mind of its own, and was very awkward to tease into position.
Then there were the connections. Nothing quite fitted. The tank had 25mm pipes, the boat 22mm. The inlet pipe was 50mm, the tank fitting 45mm. And I am not quite strong enough to force these very stiff pipes on to the connections. But I managed in the end, with only a few cuts and scalds. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
But it is very satisfying to have completed the job. Even if my back hurts, my hands are sore, my arms ache......
But all that will be better soon. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Now all that has to be done is the windscreen glazing, and the new sprayhood, all in the pipeline. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
