I needed to top my batteries up with shore power, so stoppped at Waveney River Centre for the night.

"Are you stern to?"

"Erm, no, I can't really I've got a tiny boat and wouldn't be able to get off it stern to"

"That's £11 then please, it would be £9 if you were stern to"

"oh, come on, I'm tiny, I'm probably less length than a broads cruiser is wide"

"£11 unless you're stern to because you take up more room"

Fine.

So I'm now bow to with the kedge over the back. Bloody grr. I wouldn't have minded if the marina had boats in it, but it's absolutely empty.

Had a major cock up last night too. A friend popped to see me and we got smashed on the broads. One drink lead to another and the next thing I knew we'd emptied the bottle of Jura I was saving for a celebration. I managed to spill half a glass of whiskey on to the chart table, which finished off my long suffering phone, and took the macbook out with it too. It just won't turn on anymore.

Being without a camera is one thing (although that should be solved tomorrow with the arival of a new battery) but being without a laptop is not possible. I can't blog, I can't get help and social relief from you lot, and perhaps most importantly, I can't email or check the weather. Quite simply, unless I want to disapear of the face of the earth I need a computer.

So here I am, £350 lighter, writing this on a Dell I got from Tesco in Beccles. It'll do the job, but has well and truly painted my bank balance red. On the bright side, I prefer it to black, it's a brighter, more vibrant colour /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I'd better get a move on though, so it's lucky I've got 10knot SW's all weekend!

Wells, here I come!

Also!

I've decided Kudu is a dry boat from now on. If I was concentrating a bit more on sailing rather than drinking I wouldn't be in this mess. Next time I'm boozing is... oh, Wells, with Dave. haha.

Following my joy with insurers is there an option to make a claim - do you still have a household policy / was the laptop at your parents at the time /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

so...... let me get this straight....

You've ended up in Norfolk, and your experience thus far has been:

Some stranger suggested that you really should present your rear end to him
You found yourself £350 worse off than expected, and can't really remember why
Your closest friend is no longer turned on
and your plan is to meet with another bloke in Norfolk somewhere amongst the sand dunes

....OK..... I see......

And the navik is taking up the quarter berth, so my mate had to stay in the forepeak with me. Tragic. I really, really, miss girls. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Anyway, when you finally escape from there and arrive at Wells, have you got the KY aboard or shall I bring some along ? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
At least I now know why your new number came through though

Problems with the PC settings so the headphone isn't working and it makes the laptop overheat, hence sitting in the office working on PC while researching the fault on the laptop. Nothing but rubbish on TV anyway but what a way to spend an evening

Oh well, at least I'll get to christen Kudu. I never got chance to in London, always used my neighbour's boat. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I found that my Dell laptop over heated due to too much fluff accumulating in the intakes for the fans. Removed the covers to the fans and 'removed' what i thought was a filter, grey about 3mm thick!

The 'filter' turned out to be the cause of the overheating and it has been as good as gold for the past two years since cleaning.

The filter turned out to just a collection of dust which had been accumulating as the laptop was always being operated on my lap (where else) and also on the bed. It now sits on a large cheese board when in use which keeps the air intakes clear of clothing and fabric. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Always had the problem on this one when I'm trying to do too much at once, dust was also a problem but the compressor is useful, the laptop now gets a regular blowjob, if only all things in life were that fair
