Good evening all,
I have a DQD 13 foot which is second hand. It was my first boat and I've had it since I was 14! I'm 19 now and although my dad wants to get a Jeanneau MF 625 (?) I want to keep the DQD as it's been fantastic over the years, and despite "popular belief" has handled very well, IMO in heavy seas.
Two years ago, some damage was sustained at the water line, which punctured through around 2cm. This was in the summer, and we didn't think there was any need to get this seen to until November when it came out for it's overhaul. We let it dry off for a few weeks then sealed it.
No problems really, however I have noticed since that there is a tiny "pitch" to one side; the side it was damaged on. I'm not entirely sure if this is true, but I do remember reading somewhere that the "later" DQD had, underneath the deck, watertight compartments filled with foam. Basically, if it got holed, only the affected compartments would flood. My DQD is early/mid 90s.
It planes etc and travels at around 15 knots in heavy weather and 20-25 in calm weather (its engine is a 40 hp yamaha mariner 2 stroke).
I'm sorry this question is so long, but is there anyway I can tell if it is waterlogged without having to weigh it or cut open the decks?
And, if it is waterlogged, what would I need to do to fix it?
Thanks very much for your help
