Did anyone else notice how clear the water was today?
We anchored in 2.5m on the Crouch, and could see the anchor on the mud. Grandaughter could see the crabs on her crabbing line from the pontoon.
'taint natural on East Coast.
Was it the same on other rivers?

Didn't notice it off Bradwell and that was sat on the putty for 2 hours either side of LW on Sunday. Ooops! At least I now know that when the echo sounder reads 1m it means zilch under the keel. Was just tacking into deeper water too.

Could hardly have been more embarrasing - I had 3 RNR students on board for an introduction to sailing so now the whole Unit knows and I teach them navigation! :o

Yes Dan we commented on it as well .. You could see the bottom on the end of Priors pontoon in the Crouch -almost tropical clarity

Was up the Crouch and found it useful to see the underside of the boat to see if there was any fouling. Very unusual.

As a downside the lack of strength of tide meant the trip back to the Medway took well over an hour longer as the conveyor belt was all but switched off. Still, a lovely day for a motor.

Same here. Didn't notice the clarity on Saturday (too busy moaning about conked out engine) but notice it on Sunday, could see the bottom of the rudder (covered in weed, so much for 2/3 season Jotun).

Anyone know why it was so clear?
