Waste Tank empty

We have a Cranchi 34 Zaffiro and want to empty the waste tank with a suction hose in the marina. We put the hose into the waste tap on the Stavros side of the boat. However, nothing came out is there a valve we need to turn on and where is it to allow the Waste to be pumped out.

On my Smeraldo 37, this outlet is just a pipe going straight into the tank... no valves.

Is it possible your pipe is clogged with... foreign matter?

The only valve that involves the black tank for us is under the hatch in the galley - there is a Y valve to choose between 'out to sea' or 'to black bank'.... maybe when you try to suck out it's causing a vacuum so nothing coming out... therefore you may need to have to chance this valve to 'to black tank' which would allow air into the tank (via the toilet itself)?

Make sure nobody is sitting on the toilet when you initiate the vacuum.
