Washing ropes

What model was it?

We need a new washing machine. Ours has become very loud!

Reviews/features like this as great reference info for that purchasing decision!

I am lucky. We wash lines in with the general washing (40deg colour). Not too many at once due to the tangle. Wrap any metal shakles in socks.

Samsung WD80 - washer - drier. It was expensive, but worth every penny - it does everything, quietly and well.
Anticipates moving to a house without utility room and space for washer and drier.

Has anyone tried soaking a rope in something like Patio Magic before washing? Boat is in fresh water and some of mine are a bit green.

Better to wash them, dry them, then soak in PT and then dry again. Refit to boat.

Alternately brush PT onto ropes still on boat, washing not needed.

+1 on this. You can even get a good result washing as best as you can in situ in a bucket . (Just tail halyards , both ends in turn to the bucket). Let dry and repeat in a bucket of patio magic. Amazing.

The best way to avoid domestic interference with washing ropes is to think outside the box, as I did when I gave up work. I volunteered to take over control of the washing (not ironing)! My wife will admit when pressed that she thinks the machines are in the garage, and are probably white. The upsides are that I have demonstrated my commitment to sharing the chores, and that I decide what goes in the machine e.g. The ropes.
